1. Make them realise the seriousness of the mistake. If they have done something wrong, explain that it is no use blaming somebody. They need to take responsibility for their actions.
2. Let them ask questions. They need to understand at what moment something went wrong. What caused the mistake? What could I have done differently? What have I learnt?
3. Make a plan. The main part of the plan should be devoted to how to act in order to prevent a similar mistake in the future.
