When kids choose their friends, it’s not a good idea to tell them who to be friends with. This will only cause resentment as they will not be able to experience sympathy or some negative feelings toward somebody. Likes and dislikes for this or that person help to make choices.
What can a parent do and help a child? First, minimize situations where the child may encounter those who can have a negative influence on him. Secondly, you need to analyze unpleasant situations together and discuss why his friend acted this way or that way. To encourage a child to make his own judgments and conclusions means to support independence in relations with other people.
