Lifelong learning

The idea of lifelong learning appeared 100 years ago, but it is becoming a new reality only now.  This idea appeared in the work of Eduard C. Lindeman which was published in the USA in 1926. The idea of lifelong learning is well expressed by American futurist A. Toffler who said that in the 21st century illiterate people will not be the ones who cannot read or write, but those who haven’t learnt how to learn.

Professional life used to be based on one education, one profession and one job. A person studied for a long time and step by step built a career in one sphere, then retired.

Nowadays, life is full of new and complex problems that need to be solved. At present, lifelong learning is a reality and a necessity and has become an essential part of the working processes in many modern companies.
