Why is it difficult to teach kids to be independent?

When teaching kids to be independent, parents can make some mistakes.

Too much control. It is difficult to develop independence when every step is controlled and there are strict rules in the house. The child should be given enough free space to show how independent they can be.

Excessive involvement of parents can lead to children consulting at every step and their inability to make decisions. Such children, when they grow up, face problems when they need to make a decision.

Lack of systematic education. A vivid example is a strict mother, or a soft father (or vice versa) when one of the parents forbids what the other allows. An immature person in such a situation turns out to be disoriented and rushes from one option to another.
