Why are computer bugs called “Bugs”?

Have you ever wondered why computer problems are called “bugs”?
The term was already being used by engineers in the late 1800s to describe mechanical faults, long before computers existed. It became famous in 1947 when engineers working on the Harvard Mark II computer found a real moth trapped inside the machine, causing it to malfunction. They taped the moth into their logbook and labelled it as the “first actual case of a bug being found”.
Today, a “bug” refers to an error or flaw in software or hardware that causes something to work incorrectly. Even though real insects are no longer the problem, the name has stuck for nearly a century.
