Most children have never seen a floppy disk, yet its picture still appears whenever we save a file.
When computers first became popular, floppy disks were one of the main ways people stored information. Software designers kept the icon because millions of people already recognised it. Even though the technology disappeared, the symbol remained.
It’s an interesting reminder that some designs outlive the technology they represent. Sometimes old ideas become part of everyday digital life.
