How to praise your kid?

  • Praise for some action. Don’t praise for everything. It is better to praise for some effort and result.
  • Share your feelings. Don’t say, “You are very clever.”, “You will do better than anybody.” In this way he will expect your appraisal and will become dependent on your opinion. It’s better to say what you feel because of his actions.
  • Be sincere. Sometimes it is very difficult to react emotionally to kids’ stories and it can disappoint a child. It’s important to show that you are sincere and are ready to share their success.
  • Don’t praise and criticize simultaneously. Sometimes we may say, “You have made a good report but why haven’t you washed up?” In such a way we can offend a child. Praise, but criticize another time.
